


Reinhold Decker, born 1960, holds a master’s degree (diploma in German) in business engineering. In 1993, he received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Karlsruhe (KIT) and in 1997 he completed his postdoctoral habilitation there on a topic from business data analysis.
Since 1997, he has been Professor of Business Administration at Bielefeld University with a focus on marketing and market research. Main areas of his current research are the development and empirical validation of methods for collecting and analyzing consumer data, particularly customer opinions and preferences, as well as market data-driven new product development. As a visiting scholar or guest lecturer, he worked, among others, at the Moscow Academy of National Economy, the University of Paris III – Sorbonne Nouvelle, the University of Maryland and the University of Vienna.
He is a member of editorial boards (e.g. Review of Managerial Science), vice president of the German Classification Society and scientific director of Bielefeld2000plus. Since 1997, Reinhold Decker has been active in different fields of academic self-administration.
Since 2012, he has been vice-rector for finance and resources.
