On the occasion of his 75th birthday, the ZiF dedicated an extensive exhibition on both floors of the main building to Peter Sommer, artist and retired professor of Bielefeld University. On display were tableaus made of rolled lead, earth, dust and ashes. In another series of works, only ash was used to make statements on human beings. Large-sized reverse paintings/collages on glass, combining dust, earth and print media also took up the theme ‚human beings’, supplemented by sculptures made from earth and terracotta. On display were also pen and ink drawings which – together with Peter Sommer’s sketchbooks – document his intense closeness to nature.
