We like to distinguish between ‘humans’ and ‘animals’. This differentiation generally remains popular until a behaviourist discovers an ape that is able to do exactly what has so far been reserved for the ‘pride of creation’. Moreover, latest findings concerning our ‘next of kin’ have even shown that they are also capable of cultural competence. Volker Sommer illustrates the amazing achievements of animals other than human beings on the basis of his own research into wild primates.
