The reasons, why you have to do an internship are on the one hand, to professionalize yourself and your study and on the other hand, to advance your chances in the job market. The intention is to collect first experiences in applying your sociological, political or social scientific knowledge outside the university. First at all, the internship can give you new inputs for further study decisions. Furthermore, it offers you the possibility to come in touch with different vocational fields and possible employees.

In order to take advantage of the internship, it is advisable to start early with figuring out your personal interests, which organisation you like to learn more about and how you are going to integrate the internship in your studies. To do so, the “Praktikumsbegleitveranstaltung”, discussions with the lecturer and fellow students will be helpful. Furthermore, reading scientific journals, doing internet research and visiting the Internship Office can solve your problems.
