International Office promotes and cultivates Bielefeld University's international
relations. Its tasks include assisting international students and scientists.
Department of Central Research Funding and Transfer
(Dezernat Zentrale Forschungsförderung, Transfer) is a central service unit at Bielefeld University.
It is the place to go for scientists seeking advice on issues such as research and promotion grants, the administration of external funding, possibilities of cooperation with industry, employees' inventions and patent rights, and safeguarding and exploiting intellectual property rights. The central service of the ZFF assists scientists by providing them with information, customer acquisition, as well as administration and processing services.
It offers a broad range of services including, in part, "tailor-made" information and handouts for scientists:
Department III (Personnel) has general responsibility for administering all Bielefeld University staff as well as processing work
contracts, leaves of absence, Job-/Firmentickets for public transport, travel costs, and so forth.

press office (Pressestelle) is the external and
internal hub for a variety of information channels. Through press announcements, the Internet, and its own publications, it provides
information to members of the university, the media, and the general public about teaching, research, further training, international
news, conferences, and forthcoming events at Bielefeld University. It also answer questions from journalists and the general public and
advises university staff on how to handle the media and public relations.
The press office organizes press conferences and interviews with the press for faculties and institutes, and it evaluates how the university is presented in the media. It also runs a digital information management unit that assists in the design of Internet pages and ensures that the Internet presence of the university is up to date. Finally, the press office organizes a service for visitors interested in Bielefeld University.
Studentenwerk is to help students to
study successfully by providing services in the fields of study grants and loans (BAFöG), canteens and cafeterias, and accommodation and
childcare.
