Financial Issues

Students living in Bielefeld need at least 620 Euro to cover their monthly expenses. ERASMUS and other cooperations students are exempted from tuition fees but have to pay - as all students - a registration fee of app. 200 Euro per semester, i.e. "Sozialbeitrag + Semesterticket".

With the Semesterticket (valid for six months) students can use without further costs public transport in the city of Bielefeld and the regions Ostwestfalen Lippe and Minden-Ravensberg, as well as regional trains in Northrhine-Westfalia. For further information see website of the Asta.

  • Rent: 200 Euro - 300 Euro
  • Health Insurance: app. 60 - 70 Euro
  • Food: 150 Euro

    In the 'Mensa' of the university (open onday - Friday) students can choose between several lunch dishes that cost only 1,25 - 2,10 Euro. Payment is made with the student service card, that can be obtained at the entrance.
  • Books and study materials: 35 Euro
