German skills

ERASMUS and other cooperation students should already have a fairly good knowledge of German, before they leave home, but they do not have to show proof of their German language capability for admission.

German courses for non-degree students

Each semester offers an advanced language course "Deutsch für ERASMUS- und andere Kooperationstudierende". It takes place once a week. In addition, we offer intensive German courses before classes begin:

- three or four weeks intensive language courses beginning in September.
- one or two weeks intensive language courses in March/April and October.

These courses are not suitable for absolute beginners. Cooperation students who decide to continue their studies in Bielefeld and get their degree here, have to pass the "Test of German as a Foreign Language" (DSH) or TestDAF.

International Summer Courses

The Universität Bielefeld as well as the Fachhochschule Bielefeld offer international summer courses, which take place in a cooperation with the language school 'bibis'. You can find further information here.

In addition, many German higher education institutions offer summer language courses. These courses are summed up on the DAAD homepage and you can find them here.
