At the Department of Psychology, academic staff members are affiliated to one of 13 sections: Arbeitseinheiten (in German). The Department of Psychology runs and continuously develops high-quality academic programmes at the BSc, MSc, and doctoral levels. In addition, we offer postgraduates holding a Master's degree advanced training towards a professional degree in psychotherapy for either adults or for children and adolescents.
Staff members collaborate with scientists from all over the world, including strong links to the University of Pretoria (South Africa), Penn State University (USA), and LaTrobe University Melbourne (Australia). Moreover, the department cooperates with more than 20 universities in Europe. Its local collaboration partners include the Faculties of Educational Science, Linguistics and Literary Studies, and Technology; the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research on Conflict and Violence (IKG); the Centre for Statistics; various clinics within the "von Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel;" and the Christoph Dornier Foundation (in German).
The Departments of Psychology and Sports are both involved in top-level research in the Centre of Excellence CITEC - Cognitive Interaction Technology. This centre offers excellent conditions for research, cutting-edge laboratories (eye-tracking lab, EEG lab, etc.), and opportunities for psychology and sports science students and researchers to collaborate in a strongly interdisciplinary environment. We welcome applications for enrolment in our BSc/BA, MSc/MA, and PhD programmes in the Faculty of Psychology and Sports Science. We strive to provide students with a supportive environment in which to pursue their studies and research.
