Data collection and storage
When you visit any Website, your browser always sends information on the type of browser it is, which version it is running, which operating system is being used, the referrer URL, the IP address, the file names, the access status, how much data is transferred, the date, and the time of the server request. This data is stored and used exclusively to identify and pursue unauthorized attempts to access the Web server. It is not compared with other datasets or passed on to third parties. The data is stored for a maximum of 30 days, analysed statistically in an anonymized form, and then simply deleted.
The Internet presence of Bielefeld University provides several options for entering personal data (E-mail addresses, names, postal addresses) to subscribe for newsletters, receive replies, and participate in discussion forums. All use of these services is completely voluntary. Naturally, data is used only for the one specific purpose and is not passed on to third parties.
E-mail addresses for newsletters are stored and used for no other purpose than mailing them. Subscribers can personally cancel their subscription at any time; their e-mail addresses will then be deleted.
