Emotions as Bio-Cultural Processes

Conference of the ZiF:Research Group 2004/05

Date: July 1 - 2, 2004
Scientific Organizers: Hans J. Markowitsch, Birgitt Röttger-Rössler (both Bielefeld)

On the workshop, the momentary Fellows of the Research Group presented interim results of their discussions in three areas of related research. These areas, on which the Group's work has concentrated in the first three months of the research year at ZiF, were:

  • Conceptual Issues
  • Social Emotions - the Example of Shame and Pride
  • Emotions as Communicators
Half a day was devoted to the discussion of each of these areas at the workshop. However, no scientific presentations in the strict sense were held as all participants received a written summary of the work in advance. The discussions were thus based on these summaries in such a way that each participant commented on the Group's work in that area.
