From March 15 to 16, the ZiF: Research Group "Emotions as Bio-Cultural Processes" held the last workshop of its year at the ZiF. From the beginning, the workshop on the many different aspects of the emotion 'love' was intended as a kind of 'extended editorial meeting' for a publication of a volume. The reason for this had been the decision of the Group to publish a book on the emotion love, which-apart from contributions by Fellows-should also include articles by experts in specific fields who were not themselves part of the Research Group. Thus, at the meeting all contributors were asked to present a draft version of the articles to the Fellows and some more external experts on the topics. This approached worked very well and the many constructive points that came up in discussions will now be integrated into the articles. The content of the talks ranged from philosophical and anthropological considerations over literary and cultural analyses of different forms of romantic love and their display over to evolutionary, biological and neuroscientific topics. Moreover, the novel author Michael Kleeberg, who gave a public reading from some of his works on the "beginnings of love", also contributed to the workshop in that he put a chapter from the novel he is currently working on up for discussion by the scientists.
