Between Historical Memory and Political Intervention

Hannah Arendt and Giorgio Agamben

Date: May 29 - 31, 2006
Organizers: Eva Geulen (Bonn), Kai Kauffmann (Bielefeld), Georg Mein (Bielefeld)

The topic of this ZiF workshop is the comparison of the political and historical philosophy of Hannah Arendt and that of Giorgio Agamben. The workshop's aim is to relate their different modes of historical memories and political intervention to one another systematically. Although Agamben has recourse to Arendt's theoretical approaches in his work repeatedly, the examination of this relationship has so far remained a desideratum in scholary research.
