When the hunters saw the monster, the immunologists thought it was the IMMUNE SYSTEM itself. The theoreticians believed them. It looked so complex and terrific that they had to sit down for a week (March 19-25) to decide who had the best weapon and which was the best way to capture the monster. Being hunters, their talks were tall. There were those that wanted to attack the monster from the rear, and break open the endless spiral of self-consciousness... There were those who thought it was better to first conquer the two claws of humoral and cellular response... There were those who advised to unwind the regulatory legs... They wanted to concentrate on the signalling and backfeeding antennae and autocrinous cytochines... each one was sincerely convinced that his approach was the best.
