Professor Yadh Ben Achour (Tunis, TUN),
Co-chairman of the UN Human Rights Committee
The new Tunisian constitution, adopted in January 2014, was internationally celebrated as an institution of openness and tolerance. The well-known jurist Yadh Ben Achour, who was significantly involved in drafting that constitution, provides an insight into the complex process that led to consensus-building and underlines strong points but also shows discrepancies of the text. An open exchange of ideas with the fellows of the Research Group Balancing Religious Accommodation and Human Rights in Constitutional Frameworks and a discussion with the public will follow.
The Lecture will be in French, simultaneous translation into German will be provided.
