Doctoral positions

Admission to the BGHS degree programme
It is also possible to seek admission to the doctoral programme without a doctoral position. The deadline for applications for the next Winter Term is 15 June 2013, the semester begins on 1 October 2013. You will find more information under degree programme at the menu bar on the left.
Visiting fellowships
Each semester, the BGHS invites two international doctoral researchers from a foreign university to join our community in Bielefeld for a research stay of up to four months. The next Visiting Fellowships will be announced for the Winter Term 2013/14 (deadline: 15 June 2013). You will find more information under visiting fellowships at the menu bar on the left.
Start-up scholarships for international doctoral proposals
The BGHS awards six-month start-up scholarships to international MA graduates looking to pursue a doctoral degree. The scholarships support the preparation of a research project and the completion of a project description for applications for admissions, fellowships, or doctoral positions. The next Start-up Scholarships are to be announced for the Summer Term 2014 (deadline: 15 January 2014).
Shortcuts scholarships for the promotion of young women researchers
The BGHS will offer a series of workshops on preparing doctoral proposals in Summer Term 2013 and shall award two Shortcuts scholarships to young women researchers wishing to attend these workshops. More information on the programme and the application procedure will be available in the winter of 2012/13.
Grants for members of the BGHS community
The BGHS supports the international mobility of its members with mobility grants for three to six-month stays abroad at universities or research facilities. We also offer a nine-month grant for participation in the BGHS exchange programme with John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland (USA).
