The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology is a joint institution of the Faculty of Sociology and the History Department of the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology at Bielefeld University. Under the umbrella of the Graduate School, international doctoral programmes in sociology and history are offered.

Plenary Meeting and Winter Party

Research Retreat 2014, 21/22 November in Vlotho
Last week the 4th BGHS Research Retreat took place in Vlotho. Doctoral researchers who joined the BGHS in 2014 dicussed their research projects with their peers and Prof. Ursula Mense-Petermann, Prof. Thomas Welskopp and Prof. Alfons Bora. Guest lecturer Kalle Pihlainen at BGHS
Since last week Kalle Pihlainen is our new guest lecturer at the BGHS. From 27 to 28 November he will give a seminar on »Limiting Textuality«. The application period for the Start-up Scholarships 2015 has ended. Over 100 applications were sent in. The BGHS awards up to six four-month start-up scholarships for the summer term 2015. About the BGHS
The Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology is a joint institution of the Faculty of Sociology and the History Department of the Faculty of History, Philosophy and Theology at Bielefeld University (Germany). Under the umbrella of the Graduate School, international doctoral programmes in sociology and history are offered. It provides an inspiring research environment for about 180 doctoral candidates.
Doctoral candidates can start the three-year doctoral programme every Winter and Summer Term. The deadline for the Winter Term is June 15 and January 15 for the Summer Term.
