Qualifying Workshop Climate Worlds
From October 2009 to March 2010 the two institutions in charge - KWI Essen and BGHS - ran a workshop in order to assemble the
research team and to teach participants the necessary knowledge of facts and methods. Nine participants have received a short-term scholarship
from the BGHS. In addition, the workshop supported them in their scholarship applications to KWI, BGHS and further institutions devoted
to the support of (junior) researchers, which had been informed about the project before.
The workshop consisted of two modules. Module A dealt with the topic of climate change from the perspective
of the cultural, political and natural sciences. Module B, on the other hand, trained the participants in the methods of
field research, camera work and technology, and film editing. Furthermore, Modul B dealt with the theoretical background of
relevant methods to ethnographic filming as well as to the ethnography of global phenomena.
