History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science - MA Gender Studies Interdisciplinary Research And Implementation
With the foundation of a common Graduate School, the Department of History and the Department of Sociology expect to strengthen their existing cooperations and open up new fields of jointly organized research at the doctoral level and beyond. Currently, the joint activities of the two departments in interdisciplinary graduate education are concentrated in three areas of research:
- institutional/ epistemic forms of science and technology and their patterns of change,
- the political as communicative space in past and present societies,
- processes of globalization and structures of world society.
Three new areas of common research will include:
- studies in historical and comparative semantics,
- social inequalities in past and present societies,
- transformations of kinship and the construction of biographies.
The Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) and various services provided by the university as well as the two departments' networks and international partners make up the school's subsidiary context.
