

Brains belong to the most complex systems in nature. They determine perception and cognitive abilities and regulate, together with a multitude of physiological processes, the behaviour of animals and humans. To investigate the mechanisms enabling organisms to behave adaptively in complex environments is one of the most fascinating and challenging tasks in science. The research groups in neurobiology, behaviour and evolution investigate these abilities and the selective processes that led to their evolution. In our teaching we convey the concepts, basic experimental methods and core theories of these research fields.
