Welcome to Bielefeld University's Faculty of Educational Science.
Educational science in Bielefeld can look back on a long tradition of outstanding research. The Faculty split up from the previous combination of pedagogy, philosophy, and psychology departments to become an independent faculty in 1980. Today, it is one of the largest faculties at Bielefeld University with approximately 5.500 students studying in various degree courses. About 200 staff members (including 17 professors) in the fields of research, teaching, and administration, also make the faculty one of the largest educational departments in Germany.
It consists of ten working groups and six internationally cross-linked academic institutions. Alongside the subject-specific Bachelor and Master Degree programmes, the Faculty also has major responsibility for the university's teacher-training- programmes.
