Research

My research interest focusses on different forms of media-based production of knowledge. The dissertation dealt with Open Source software development. In brief I worked on two questions: First, how does the social structure ‘open source software project’ evolve? Second, how do community-driven open source software projects manage decision-making and implementation? In my current project I am interested in the development of the scientific communication system and the shift towards Open Access. Here, I explore the question of how the development towards Open Access influences the forms of participation in the communication system of science.
