The Rectorate at Bielefeld University offers scholarships to particularly highly qualified young academics. These are granted according to the Bielefeld University guidelines for promoting young academics with Rectorate funds from 2008.
The Rectorate Scholarships are announced once a year. The deadline for applications is always 15 October. The earliest that the scholarships can commence is 1 January of the following year.
Generally, such a scholarship pays 1,000 Euro per month. If the scholarship holder has dependent children, the Rectorate may offer a supplementary allowance of 150 Euro per child. In addition, the faculties can raise this basic amount by up to 500 Euro per month from faculty or third-party funds.
Scholarships are generally given for 2 years. However, they are initially approved for a maximum of 1 year. Scholarship holders then have to fill out an application form to continue receiving their scholarship. Shorter scholarship periods are also possible.
