Bielefeld University has several mentoring services for different target groups and different purposes. This page summarizes information on the different mentoring services at the university and tells you how to get in touch with them.
Mentoring programmes have been applied successfully at more than 100 higher education institutes throughout Germany and prove to be an effective instrument for promoting young academics.
Mentoring is a confidential relationship between a young person at the beginning of her or his career (the mentee) and a more experienced, established person (the mentor) designed to promote the career of the mentee by transferring knowledge based on experience and arranging academic contacts.
Mentees profit through gaining answers to their individual questions and they receive important impulses for their further development. Mentors gain insight into the decision-making contexts of the young generation and further develop their counselling competencies.
