The education of the HPSS-Master in Bielefeld is directed at obtaining important competences in policy and management of sciences. Moreover, because of the bi-national orientation you get to know the philosophical cultures of Germany and France in their characteristics and acquire linguistic competence and interdisciplinary and international knowledge as well. Graduates of the HPSS program will be prepared for many roles of occupation, including the following:

• Coordination and Management of Sciences in complex scientific organizations (for example Max-Planck-, Helmholtz- and Leibnizgesellschaft with their institutions and universities)

• Consultation and promotion of organizations of sciences (DFG, EU, private foundations) or at institutions of evaluation and accreditation

• Presentation in expert commissions

• Press communications and publicity in government bodies (of state and federal states) and in promotion organisations of sciences, which are attached to promotion of sciences and education (e.g. Bertelsmann Stiftung, Stifterverband)

• Carriers and jobs in media (scientific broadcasts in radio and TV, occupation in press, archives, libraries and museums)

• Carriers and jobs in public and private organizations of management of sciences

• Carriers and jobs in management of concerns of the “new economy”
