A Bachelor's Degree (or another at least equivalent graduation) is required to take part in this program.

The application must furthermore contain a personal data sheet and a synopsis which shows motivation and ability to HPSS. This includes, for example, transcripts from other institutions/universities, letters of recommendations and a written letter explaining why the student would like to participate in this program as well as how their past experiences have prepared them for this in this program. A certificate (e.g. the high school diploma) is additionally required.

If necessary there may be a selection interview about personal expectations of the studies.

A good knowledge of the language of the respective partner country is required. As the case may be the student may have to take part in additional language courses.

A good knowledge of English is also a prerequisite because it of its role in understanding international literature.
