Methods of Empirical Social Research
The Research and Teaching Unit 2 Methods of Empirical Social Research is responsible for teaching methods of empirical social research and statistics in the faculty´s study programs. It is made up of the two workgroups "Qualitative Methods" and "Quantitative Methods". Our academic program meets the highest standards and is marked by a very broad range of methods and approaches. For this reason, the Faculty of Sociology is particularly appealing to people interested in questions of empirical social research. In terms of research, the unit is characterized by a wide variety of focuses and themes. Next to fundamental research on statistical and methodological issues, other research focus areas lie in the domains of criminology and political sociology, and in the investigation of interactions in everyday society as well as institutional and media contexts.
