... arriving by train

From Bielefeld main station take the tram line 4 to the university (leaving every 10 minutes during daytime) and get out at the 5th stop. The ride takes about 8 minutes.
A taxi requires 10 minutes and costs about DM 13.

... by car

From direction south-west (Dortmund):
On the motorway A2 - Dortmund to Hannover , leave at the exit Bielefeld-Sennestadt, then turn left to Bielefeld-Brackwede for appr. 8,2 km on the Südring. Passing a big furniture shop ("IKEA") turn right to the Ostwestfalendamm (motorway B68). Exit Stapenhorststraße and follow the signs to the university (Universität).

 From north-east direction (Hannover): 
On the motorway A2 - Hannover to Dortmund, leave at exit No. 28 "Ostwestfalen-Lippe" (in case of  traffic jam ahead take exit "Herford"). At the end of the exit turn right. After  1 KM turn left at traffic light and turn to the right into the Milserstraße after approx. 2 KM just to the end of this street (traffic light; approx. 3 KM). Turn to the left on to the Herforderstraße and at traffic light after approx. 2 KM turn right (signs Universität and Alm)on to the Talbrückenstraße. Follow (for about 7 KM) the signs Universität and Alm (soccer stadium) via the Talbrückenstraße and Voltmannstraße to the university.

Three parking garages and the car park offer ample parking space.

Attention: There are a lot of radar speed checks on coming in and going out of Bielefeld.

In the university ...

Entering the building complex of the university at the main entrance, there is a big staircase leading to the "Halle" (quite similar to a station hall). Turn right and and go straight to the end of the hall  until you reach the "Westend"-cafeteria resp. the swimming hall. Pass through the glass door on the left side to reach the lift area V-W (marked yellow in plan). Go up to the seventh floor, then turn left through glas door, then through glas door on the right. The fourth door on the right is the secretariat (W7-110) and at the end of the floor is Professor Jockusch's office (W7-114).
