The Center for Interdisciplinary Research (ZiF) of the Bielefeld University supports the research group Stochastic Modeling in the Sciences: Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and Random Media, with its central research semester from April 1, 2005 to September 15, 2005. The research concentrates on the theory and the applications of two subbranches of stochastics, namely stochastic partial differential equations and random media. The topics of the concluding conference will focus on those fields of applications that will have turned out to be the most promising for the work of the research group. These topics originate from biology, chemistry, physics, in particular hydrodynamics, but also medical sciences, and engineering.
