In recent decades the work of Walter Burkert has had an impact that reaches far beyond his original field of Ancient Greek Studies. No other Classic scholar has come anywhere near the consistency and clarity with which he has managed to combine the various areas of research in humanities with the Sciences. Hence, the Author's Colloquium of the University of Bielefeld began the task of extensively exploring these new interpretations of Ancient Greek religion, literature and culture.
