Protest communication: Mobilization and political conflict in Mexico (2006-2008): The constitution of a social movement

The main aim of this research project rests in the claim to understand and explain the constitution and permanence, the internal organization and the impact of the wave of social mobilizations that took place in Mexico (although they were deeper and wider in the capital city, Mexico City) since 2006 until the present days. These mobilizations can be observed in the context of a broader process of conflict and change of the political structures. Though, this research is concerned with the internal environment of the mobilizations, the interrelationships among protesters, organizations and political groups and the possible impacts of such protests in different thresholds of the society, especially those related to the democratization of the public space. In order to carry out this research, data collection will be conducted with qualitative methods and field work. The gathered information will be analyzed and worked using social movement's theories.
