Prof. Dr. Walter Traunspurger is head of the department of Animal Ecology at Bielefeld University. His research focuses on aspects of free-living aquatic nematodes ranging from taxonomy, functional ecology to ecotoxicology.

Nicole Spann is research associate in the department of Animal Ecology at Bielefeld University. She has research expertise covering the influence of anthropogenic chemicals on meiobenthic and macrobenthic organisms. Her main interests are the bioavailability of chemicals and measures to make ecotoxicological testing more realistic for the natural environment.

Kai Ristau is research associate in the department of Animal Ecology at Bielefeld University. His scientific emphasis focuses on freshwater meiobenthic food webs and the biodiversity patterns of free-living nematodes. Of special interest are abiotic and biotic factors shaping the structure of nematode communities and the genetic diversity of nematode species.
EUMAINE is open to top–level students with a University Bachelor degree (requiring a minimum of 3 years study) in Agricultural sciences, Biology, Bioscience engineering or Environmental sciences.
