The Visual sense is, in birds as well as in
humans, the most important for the guidance of behaviour. The eyes of
birds are huge compared to the total size of the brain, and visual areas
comprise a high percentage of the total brain volume.
We investigate how the visual sense is adapted
to the environmental needs and how visual information is processed by
the brain. One of the main goals is to find out where and how imprinted
visual information is stored in the brain of zebra finches.
