Wills (Nottingham), Prof. Dr. Ma Zhiming (Beiing) (b) Forschungsdarstellung Von 1984 1988 wurde BiBoS von der Stiftung Volkswagenwerk durch eine Bewilligung außerhalb der regulären Programme in Höhe von 1,5 Mio. DM gefördert und seit 1988 u.a. von der MWF NRW, DFG und EU finanziert. Forschungsschwerpunkte In den verschiedensten Gebieten von Wissenschaft und Technik hat man es mit "unregelmäßigen" Phänomenen zu tun, die sich unter dem Einfluß zufälliger "Störungen" entwickeln und daher allenfalls einer statistischen Beschreibung zugänglich sind. Der mathematische Rahmen zu dieser Beschreibung wird durch die stochastische Analysis (der stochastischen Prozesse) gegeben. Anwendungen finden sich überall dort, wo zeitliche Abläufe durch statistische Faktoren mitbestimmt werden. Zu diesen Gebieten gehören Mathematik (Dynamische Systeme, Differentialgeometrie, Analysis, Funktionalanalysis, Topologie) Physik Biologie und Soziologie (Bevölkerungsdynamik) Ökologie Wirtschaftswissenschaften (optimale stochastische Steuerung, stochastische Finanzmathematik z.B.Bewertung von Derivaten) Operations research, Systemtheorie (dynamische Programmierung) Ingenieurwissenschaften (Stabilitätsuntersuchungen, beschleunigte Haltbarkeitstests) Signalund Bilderkennung, Steuerung Chemie (Diffusionsreaktionen) Elektronik (Filter) Geographie (Wetterprognose, Ozeanographie) Medizin (Epidemiologie, Immunologie) Geologie (Zeitreihen) Neuroinformatik (Neuronale Netze) Forschungsaktivitäten White Noise Analysis erreichte eine wichtige Etappe durch das Erscheinen einer ersten Monographie ("White Noise", Hida, Kuo, Potthoff, Streit, Kluwer 1993). Der weitere Ausbau der Theorie zielte auf folgende Erweiterungen: allgemeine Gauss'sche Analysis allgemeine Gelfand-Tripel nicht-Gauss'sche Analysis Auf der Anwendungsseite sind u.a. Fortschritte bei der Theorie der Feynmanintegrale und bei einem besseren Verständnis der "self intersection local times" durch ihre Chaosentwicklung zu verzeichnen. Die Untersuchung der Struktur und der Dynamik komplexer Systeme ist fortgesetzt worden. Der Ausbau der Theorie zielte auf folgende Erweiterungen: Perkolationstheorie Selbstorganisierte Kritikalität Symbolische Dynamik Strukturierung Neuronaler Netze Unter dem Namen "Event Enhanced Quantum Theory" (EEQT) ist der Standard Formalismus der Quantentheorie erweitert worden. EEQT liefert einen Algorithmus für die Simulation von experimentellen Zeitreihen individueller Quantenobjekte. Die allgemeine Theorie von unendlich dimensionalen stochastischen Prozessen ist weiter entwickelt worden. (Ausbau der allgemeinen Theorie der nicht symmetrischen Dirichletformen, Prozesse auf Loop-Räumen und anderen unendlich dimensionalen Mannigfaltigkeiten.) Anwendungen auf das Studium der stochastischen Dynamik (unendliche Spinsysteme, Stochastische Quantisierung von Feldern, stochastische partielle Differenitalgleichungen) sind untersucht worden. Auch in der Konstruktion von Markovfeldern und Quantenfeldern auf Mannigfaltigkeiten wurden Fortschritte erzielt.Weitere Anwendungen betreffen klassische und quantenstatistische Mechanik Polymerphysik stochastische Finanzmärkte Neuronale Netze Dynamische Systeme Kooperationen: CNRS Marseille (DAAD): Prof. Dr. Ph.
