The "International Summer School 2013" is an advanced training course of the Institute for Innovation Transfer at the University of Bielefeld GmbH (IIT) in cooperation with the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Bielefeld.
In 2013 the International Summer School Programme "Infectious Disease Epidemiology" is combined with the Summer School “Climate change and spatial epidemiology: Concepts, Modelling, Strategies” (Website Summer School Climate Change), to improve the knowledge about geo-statistical and epidemiological methods for controlling the predominant health problems of the 21st century.
Next course:
Infectious Disease Epidemiology: September 9 – 13, 2013
History:
Since 1999 this international Summer School attracted more than 300 participants from Germany, other European countries, Asia and Africa, showing a great demand for further training in infectious disease epidemiology for microbiologists, infectious disease clinicians and public health experts. The course comprises methodological (methods of IDE, outbreak investigation, surveillance, mathematical modelling, health economics), practical and disease specified parts.
Each year the topics are adapted to the actual epidemiological demands, focussing this year on emerging infections due to climate change, pandemic influenza A (H1/N1), dengue, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B/C including health economic evaluations and challenges for Public Health in vulnerable populations.
