New Franco–German Project on Game Theory Won by Prof. Riedel and Prof. Tallon (Paris 1)
The German Research Foundation (DFG) and the French ResearchFoundation (ANR) award a research project on the role of ambiguity in strategic interactions to Frank Riedel and Jean-Marc Tallon from the University of Paris 1 (Sorbonne). The project will strengthen our longstanding collaboration with Paris, and opens up new research perspectives for postdoctoral researchers and our joint graduate students in the field of Game Theory and Decision Theory.

OWL Workshop
OWL Workshop: Markets, Games & Design 2012: The first OWL Workshop on "Markets, Games, and Design" was held at the University of Paderborn and Bielefeld University from September 12 to 16, 2012. During these days recent results on the connection between game theory and the microeconomic analysis of markets were discussed by researchers from Great Britain, France, Japan, Netherlands, USA and Germany. A particular focus was put on the transfer of solution concepts for cooperative games to market scenarios in order to better understand the functionality of markets and directions that guide an efficient market design.

Georgio Ferrari presents at the EPSRC Symposium Workshop - Optimal Stopping...
...Optimal Control and Finance
Organisers: Alex Cox (Bath), Ben Hambly (Oxford), David Hobson (Warwick), Goran Peskir (Manchester)
Despite the much publicised cataclysm in financial markets following the credit crunch, there is little evidence that the financial sector, or financial mathematics have become less important. Moreover, given the "misplaced reliance on sophisticated mathematics" identified in the Turner report, the need for improved understanding of financial markets has increased. Mathematical finance remains one of the richest applications of modern mathematics and optimal stopping (exercise of American options) and control (hedging and portfolio management) are two important aspects in the stochastic theory of mathematical finance. This meeting aims to operate at the interface between probability and mathematical finance to explore the latest developments in the subject, in areas such optimal stopping and dynamic programming.
