The research group Science – Mass Media – Public

The research group Science – Mass Media – Public is affiliated to the Institute for Science and Technology Studies (IWT). Since 1995, the group members have been addressing sociological and historical questions such as:

  • How are different scientific topics (e.g. climate research or biomedicine) presented in the mass media and communicated to different publics?
  • In what ways do public discussions on scientific topics feed back to science?
  • How have relations between science and the general public developed historically, and what do they look like now?
