Organizers: Franz Schultheis (St. Gallen), Michael Gemperle (St. Gallen), Berthold Vogel (Hamburg)

This three-day seminar aims to analyse characteristic problems and tendencies of the current change in the working world. It is the final conference of the research project 'Transformation of the Working World' which brings together 50 researchers from Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The scientific objective is to analyse the quality as well as the direction of the current transformation based on empirical data such as exemplary life- and working biographies and their objectivation by structural data. The colloquium shall especially encourage the interexchange of the involved researchers that come from different disciplines and the three German-speaking countries. The working group aims to develop an overall perspective that makes it possible to comprehend the characteristic problems and tendencies of the current socio-economic transformation and to contribute to the scientific and the political-public debate by its conclusions.
