Prior to this position, he was teaching philosophy and literary studies at Bielefeld University, where he also received his Masters degree in literary studies, history and philosophy. He wrote an interdisciplinary dissertation in comparative literature and philosophy on decadence (Ästhetizismus und Geschichtsphilosophie. Zum Zusammenhang von Décadence und Décadence in der gegen-naturalistischen Literatur des 19. Jahrhunderts). As a member of the Global Ethics Group he organized workshops on human rights, migration, global justice, global business ethics and this year (postponed because of the corona crises) about feminist perspectives on globalization.

Current Main Research Interests

Jens Schnitker-von Wedelstaedt is currently working on a project in business ethics, focusing on transnational corporations. He wants to clarify for which theories of democracy and justice the claim that the current global economic system undermines democracy and (inner)state justice can reasonably stated. His other philosophical interests are in global ethics, feminist ethics, applied ethics, theories of responsibility, political philosophy, Hobbes and Nietzsche.
