Social Structure and Social Inequality
The research interests of the Research and Teaching Unit include social inequalities, employment and labour market, life course research and family and social networks, as well as organizational sociology and empirical justice research.
The main focus of the teaching activities of Research and Teaching Unit 5: Social Structure and Social Inequality is on social inequality, education, labour market and employment, life courses and individual development, and family and social networks. On the one hand, the teaching activities are theoretically oriented, because only theories can provide the conceptual and analytical tools to describe and explain social phenomena based on scientific principles. On the other hand, they are empirically oriented, because descriptions and explanations of social phenomena must always be based on methodologically sound and exact observations of the social world.
