The Faculty of Educational Science at Bielefeld University is one of the leading institutions in the field of educational science and teacher training. It is anchored in Bielefeld University on an interdisciplinary basis and is building up its international network with high priority. With a focus on innovation, interdisciplinarity and internationality, the following W2 professorship is to be filled at the next possible date. We kindly ask the jobholder to have a content based orientation which is compatible with the research and teaching profile of the faculty with its academic and teacher training priorities. A participation in the different centers, institutions and research networks of the faculty and university is expected.

Professorship (W2) for Educational Science with a focus on pedagogical guidance and counselling in particular consideration of social gender relations

The jobholder of the position represents "pedagogical counselling" in research and teaching with regard to institutionalized, mainly extra-curricular counselling activities with special consideration of social gender relations. Expected is a profiling with regard to empirical research on guidance as pedagogical practice. Corresponding approaches and methods of case analysis are to be developed further within the horizon of a systematic theory formation in educational science. Connections to theories of profession and professionalization as well as a reflexive embedding in socio-economic conditions and psychosocial perspectives under consideration of ethical and power-theoretical dimensions are wanted.

The jobholder of the position should have a background in educational science and should document this through relevant publications. Experience in interdisciplinary and international cooperation and in the realization of projects as well as the willingness and motivation to acquire and manage third-party funded projects are desired.

Recruitment requirements for the advertised professorship are a completed relevant university degree in a relevant field, pedagogical aptitude, a doctorate, and further academic achievements. These will be evaluated exclusively and comprehensively in the appointment procedure (§ 36 Higher Education Act [HG]).
