The Faculty of Mathematics of Bielefeld University invites applications for a

Juniorprofessorship of Mathematics (W1), in particular Combinatorial Algebra

starting as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will represent the field of Combinatorial Algebra in research and teaching.

We are looking for a candidate who

  • in her/his dissertation has made excellent contributions to the field of combinatorial algebra, specifically e.g. in asymptotic, geometric, or enumerative group or ring theory, matroid theory, discrete and convex methods in algebraic geometry or related areas,
  • contributes to major research projects planned in the Faculty,
  • contributes to the Faculty’s portfolio of research, teaching and academic administration,
  • is open for research collaborations with scientists from the Faculty of Mathematics and other Faculties of Bielefeld University.

The initial appointment will be for three years. An extension for further three years is possible in case of a positive evaluation. Knowledge of German is not a prerequisite, but the willingness and ability to learn it within a year is.
