Date: February 25 - 27, 2009

Organizers: Stefan Kopp (Bielefeld), Ipke Wachsmuth (Bielefeld)

The International Gesture Workshop 2009 was held at the ZiF on February 25-27. More than 70 scientists from 16 countries met to present and exchange their newest research results under the conference's umbrella theme "Gesture in Embodied Communication and Human-Computer Interaction". An inspiring and interactive atmosphere at the ZiF, with presentations, posters, and live demos of technical systems, catalyzed discussions across the disciplinary boundaries between computer scientists, linguistics, neuropsychologists, or dance and music scientists. Detailed information about the program, abstracts of the presentations, and photos can be found at the conference website (
