Biographical Note

Lorena Frankenberg (ABD) has a Degree in communication, a Master degree in Humanistic Studies from University of Monterrey, México and is currently a Ph.D. student in Cultural Studies and Communication at Tecnológico de Monterrey. Her research work describes and analyses the interrelation between local media of strong tradition in Monterrey and the citizenship construction. She is a research fellow at the Communication and Mass Media Chair at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Research Interests

Research interests in relationship between media and citizenship construction, ideological discourse in local media, life stories in media institutions.

Contribution to the Research Group

An analysis of the contribution of Cultural Studies in the redirection of the concept of citizenship towards a spectrum of cultural citizenship. The analysis of the relationship of local media and identity construction in response to the globlisation process in México. This implies harmony between identity, features of religious traditions, social organisations, artistic origins and emotional expressions as well as the ideological discourse implicit in the process. A focus on the link between the media and the construction of citizenship should be reflected upon the research work. The subjectivity These concepts will reflect upon a new ontology of citizenship: the mediated citizenship in a country of Latin America.
