Module selection from the 4th/5th subject related semester

Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht")

Bachelor's degree

In the first three semesters, the degree programme consists of three compulsory modules: "Introduction to Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") / Natural Sciences", "Natural Sciences" and "Social Sciences".

From the fourth subject-related semester onwards, you can choose your own specialisation. Depending on your interests, you can choose whether you would like to specialise in social sciences or natural sciences. To choose your individual specialisation, simply complete the relevant modules; no registration is required (please note that there may be restrictions on participants).

You can specialise in one of the reference subjects of Biology, Chemistry, History, Social Sciences or Physics by studying one of the following modules:

  • 20-SU12-B Biology and its didactics in Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht")
  • 21-SU12-C Chemistry and its didactics in Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht")
  • 22-SU12-G History and its didactics in Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht")
  • 28-SU12-P Physics and its didactics in Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht")
  • 30-SU12-S Social Sciences and their Didactics in Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht")

As a further module for individual specialisation, you will study "69-SU11 Inclusive Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht fachdidaktisch rekonstruiert"). You must complete either a course of the type "Sachunterrichtsdidaktik aus gesellschaftswissenschaftlicher Fachperspektive: Theorie, Diagnose und Förderung" or "Sachunterrichtsdidaktik aus naturwissenschaftlicher Fachperspektive: Theorie, Diagnose und Förderung" (in addition to other courses). Here you must study the same area of social or natural sciences as in SU12, but a different subject. For example, if you studied Chemistry as part of SU12, you must choose Biology or Physics as part of SU11. If you studied History as part of SU12, you must choose Social Sciences as part of SU11.

This means: If you have completed the compulsory elective module 22-SU12G or 30-SU12S, you must complete the element "Sachunterrichtsdidaktik aus gesellschaftswissenschaftlicher Fachperspektive: Theorie, Diagnose und Förderung" in module 69-SU11 and pass the module examination in this element. In addition, two different related subjects (history and social sciences) must be selected in SU12 and SU11.
If the compulsory elective module 20-SU12B, 21-SU12C or 28-SU12P is completed, the element "Sachunterrichtsdidaktik aus naturwissenschaftlicher Fachperspektive: Theorie, Diagnose und Förderung" must be completed in module 69-SU11 and the module examination must be taken in this element. In addition, two different reference subjects (Biology, Chemistry or Physics) must be chosen in SU12 and SU11.

If module 20-SU12B is selected, there is also a special feature: one of the modules 20-ORB* must also be studied. Unlike all other modules of type SU12, module 20-SU12B does not comprise 10, but only 5 CP. The "missing" 5 CP are covered by studying one of the modules 20-ORB*.

An overview of all modules can be found in the programme information.

Master of Education

In the Master of Education programme, a related subject is chosen depending on the choice made in the Bachelor's programme: If you chose a related subject from the field of social sciences in your Bachelor's degree, you will study a science-related subject in the Master of Education and vice versa. The same modules of type SU12 are available as in the Bachelor's programme.

Bachelor's degree

In the first four semesters, the degree programme consists of three compulsory modules: "Introduction to Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") / Natural Sciences", "Natural Sciences" and "Social Sciences".

From the fifth subject-related semester onwards, you can choose your individual specialisation. Depending on your interests, you can choose whether you would like to specialise in social sciences or natural sciences. To choose your individual specialisation, simply complete the relevant modules; no registration is required (please note that there may be restrictions on participants).

You can specialise in one of the related subjects of Biology, Chemistry, History, Social Sciences or Physics by studying one of the following modules:

If module 20-SU12B is selected, there is a special feature: one of the modules 20-ORB* must also be studied. Unlike all other modules of type SU12, module 20-SU12B does not comprise 10, but only 5 CP. The "missing" 5 CP are covered by studying one of the modules 20-ORB*.

An overview of all Bachelor's modules can be found in the programme information.

Master of Education

In the Master of Education programme, a related subject is chosen depending on the choice made in the Bachelor's programme: If you chose a related subject from the field of social sciences in your Bachelor's degree, you will study a natural sciences-related subject in the Master of Education and vice versa. The social or natural science reference is established by selecting the element "Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") / Natural Sciences from a social science subject perspective: theory, diagnosis and support" or "Integrated Studies for Primary Education ("Sachunterricht") / Natural Sciences from a natural science subject perspective: theory, diagnosis and support" as part of the module "69-SU13 Inklusiver Sachunterricht fachdidaktisch rekonstruiert".

You can find an overview of all M. Ed. modules in the programme information.
