Nanomaterials are increasingly used for industrial and non-industrial applications, including cosmetics. We address the contribution of plants to the life cycle of nanomaterials in the environment. The following questions are addressed: Deposition of nanoparticles on plant surfaces, penetration into the intercellular space, effects of metal nanoparticles on plant processes and on specific relevant biochemical activities.
