How to access Bielefeld

How to get to Bielefeld University

Exiting Bielefeld train station via the "McDonald's stairs" will bring you to the tram station "Bielefeld Hauptbahnof" (just about 100m away; see map).

Bielefeld has 4 different tram lines. All the lines are accessible from the three main stops: “Bielefeld Hbf” (main station), “Jahnplatz” and “Rathaus”.

To reach the University take line 4 (direction Lohmannshof) and get off at station "Universität" (see plan)

Be aware that the schedule changes during the week-end, and tramways start later in the morning. Please check the tram website to plan your journey.

How to get to our group (from Tram Station "Universität")

The Biopsychology & Cognitive Neuroscience group is located in part "T" of the building, third floor of the main hall of Bielefeld University, between the offices T3–244 and T3–256.

When exiting the tram, take the stairs and go straight to the building followig the signs to the temporary main entrance. By taking some more stairs inside the building you will find yourself in the main hall. Keep left and head towards part "T" of the building. How to get to our labs (from Tram Station "Universität")

Our experimental rooms are located in part "E" of the building, ground floor of the building, in rooms E01-120 (Kids' Lab 'B hoch 3') and E01-114.

When exiting the tram, take the stairs and go straight to the building followig the signs to the temporary main entrance. By taking some more stairs inside the building you will find yourself in the main hall. Keep right and head towards part "E" of the building. Take the stairs on your right to go back to the ground level, and find the hallway. Please click here, to find/download information and maps on how to access to the different buildings.

Additionnal Information regarding Tram Tickets

The machines are only in German, and some of them only accept cash. To buy a ticket, you have to press only 1 key, the green one with the number 1 (for Bielefeld area). As explained in the picture below, there are three sections: 1 Fahrt, 4 Fahrten or S Sondertickets.

  • For a single ride, press the green key in the “1 Fahrt” section. Tickets are valid for 90min. You have to stamp them in the orange machines in the tram. If you are travelling again within the 90min, you don’t need to stamp the ticket a second time.
  • For a 4-ride ticket, press the green key in the “4 Fahrt” section. Tickets need to be stamped for each ride as well. If you are travelling again within the 90min, you don’t need to stamp it a second time.
  • Sondertickets are for Night bus (N), bikes (FH1) or full-day-tickets (T1)
