Brief Description

The seminar addresses current issues in the field of marketing research. As a basis for addressing individual topics, empirical studies are to be designed, conducted, evaluated, and documented in the context of the specific research question. The focus is on replicating an empirical primary study to verify the respective research results.

Topic-Relevant Literature

After topic allocation, students will receive relevant basic literature from their respective supervisor. Independent literature research beyond this is essential! In this context, particularly articles from current research (e.g., Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Marketing Letters, Marketing ZFP, etc.) should be systematically reviewed and evaluated in light of the relevant topic.

General Information on Content and Organization of the Seminar

  1. Additional office hours of the supervisors are intended for documenting project progress, discussing open questions, and receiving potential suggestions for improvement.
  2. The written documentation of the seminar papers should follow the formal writing guidelines for seminar, Bachelor, and Master theses available on the chair's homepage and should not exceed 20 to 25 pages for the design and evaluation of the empirical study (plus an unlimited appendix for presenting graphics, source codes, data tables, etc.). Quality, not quantity, of the content is important!
  3. Source codes generated for data evaluations and the used or generated input and output files should be submitted via Sciebo.
  4. The final grade will be based on the evaluation of individual presentations and the written documentation.
  5. A requirement for successfully completing the seminar is that participants are able to provide topic-related contributions at all event dates.
  6. Please note that attendance is mandatory at the Kick-Off event and all presentation dates. Unexcused absences will lead to exclusion from the seminar and failure of the course.
  7. Successful participation in the seminar is a good preparation for writing a Master thesis at the Chair of Business Administration, especially Marketing.

Seminar papers must be submitted as a PDF via email to both supervisors.
