Erasmus helps you to carry out a study visit and/or traineeship in Europe with financial support.

Students and doctoral candidates can be sponsored in each study cycle (Bachelor, Master, PhD) for at least 3 months up to 12 months.

Yes, students and doctoral candidates are supported for an internship with a minimum duration of 2 months per study cycle (Bachelor, Master, PhD).

No, we are sorry. The Faculty only considers registered students. Please contact your faculty or the International Office.

Yes, international students can also take part in the Erasmus program provided they are not exchange students at Bielefeld University themselves.

Foreign students with a residence permit for their studies in Germany may only stay in another country of the Schengen area for up to 90 days.

Foreign students must therefore apply for a visa for the respective country of destination after their nomination for the Erasmus program. This can mean that the German residence permit is temporarily retained during the stay abroad.

The present university was founded in 1969 as the Libera Università di Ancona, preceded in 1959 by the creation of a Faculty of Economics and Commerce as a branch of the University of Urbino. In 2003 it was renamed in Università Politecnica delle Marche Ancona. As a relatively young university it has adapted to the constantly changing social, economic and cultural conditions.

The University of Bologna is state-run and is considered one of the oldest universities. It is also the third largest university in Italy after the Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Naples Federico II. 100,000 students are enrolled in the 23 faculties. Since 1989 various branches were established in Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna and Rimini. In 1998 a department was opened in Buenos Aires. Famous professors of the University include Romano Prodi and Umberto Eco. Dante Alighieri and Francesco Petrarca also spent time studying in Bologna.

The campus in Rimini offers the degree program Economics of Tourism in Italian and English.

The Carlo Cattaneo University - LIUC (Libero Instituto Universitario) was founded in 1991 by the Varese Business Association in Castellanza. The Lombard town is located near Milan. The airport of Milan is about 15 minutes away. The private university is housed in the building of the former cotton spinning mill Catoni and offers with the School of Business and Management an extensive range of courses in English. As a campus university with an Anglo-Saxon-inspired structure you will find here both accommodation and leisure activities.

The University of Ioannina (Greek: Πανεπιστήμιο Ιωαννίνων, Panepistimio Ioanninon) was founded in 1964 and is a Greek state campus university on a modern 850-hectare campus. The Faculty of Economics was founded in 1999 and has an active research agenda.

Ioannina is the capital of the region of Epirus with about 100,000 inhabitants. It is located about 360 km southwest of Thessaloniki. The University is located about 5 kilometers south of the city centre and is easily accessible by city bus.

The University of Ljubljana (slovenian Univerza v Ljubljani) in Ljubljana is the oldest, largest and internationally best rated university in Slovenia. It is in the top 500 or top three percent of the world's best universities according to the Shanghai ranking. It is one of the largest universities in Europe with over 50,000 enrolled students and doctoral candidates.

Our cooperation is limited to the field of Public Administration.

Due to the course program in English only the summer term is currently recommended.

The University of Bucharest (Romanian Universitatea din București) was founded in 1694 by Constantin Brâncoveanu as the Academy of Saint Sava (Bucharest), and is today a state university with over 30,000 students, 1,477 professors and 19 faculties. Stefan cel Mare University Suceava (USV) is located in Bukovina, a region in northeastern Romania. It was founded in 1963 and is an innovative and complex public higher education institution with about 5,000 students.

The Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest has borne the name of the physicist Loránd Eötvös since 1950. With 32,000 students it is the largest university in Hungary and claims to be the successor to the University of Tyrnau. It was founded in 1635 and is considered one of the oldest universities in Hungary. English language skills at B2 level are expected.

The Université Paris-Est Cretéil Val de Marne is located about 15 km east of Paris. Its main campus is located in Créteil in the Département Val-de-Marne (Marne valley). It was founded in 1989 as a branch of the University Paris VII and has been independent since 1991. At the moment about 12000 students are enrolled. On the campus, Citè Descartes, there are 18 higher education establishments used for research purposes.

ESC (École Supérieure de Commerce) Rennes School of Business is a private French business school and it belongs to the prestigious Grandes Écoles. It was founded in 1990 in Rennes, the capital of Brittany, and it spread over three campus buildings.

Our cooperation provides for a two-semester stay, but you can also apply for only one semester.

Knowledge of the French language is helpful, but not necessary.

ESC (École Supérieure de Commerce) Rennes School of Business is a private French business school and it belongs to the prestigious Grandes Écoles. The cooperation with the Business School ESC Rennes enables master students to obtain a double degree, with both the title "Master of Science" from Bielefeld and the title "Master Grande École" from Rennes. The cooperation is primarily aimed at students interested in this double degree, which is designed for the third and fourth semesters of the master's program. If these places cannot be adequately filled, students who only want to go to Rennes for one semester will also be considered. The winter semester is ideal for this purpose, as the courses at the ESC Rennes take place between September and December or between January and April; in addition, the months May to October may be used for the final thesis. Knowledge of the French language is helpful, but not necessary. Already at the time of application, your academic performance should be around 100 ETCS.

The Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne is currently not available.

It is one of the 13 Parisian universities. Its main administrative buildings are located in the middle of the Latin Quarter, but it also has sites in several other arrondissements. The university was created in 1971 from the Faculty of Law and Economics and the Faculty of Language and Humanities of the former University of Paris.

With 39,234 students (including 8084 foreign students), it is the largest university with humanities courses in France.

In November/December the current partner universities are presented at the annual information event. The call for applications begins in early/mid December. The application period ends on 31 January for the coming academic year (winter and the following summer semester). Students who plan to spend a semester abroad during their Master's studies can apply for an exchange before the completion of their Bachelor's degree.

Bachelor students should already have reached about 100 ETCS.

Yes, you can. In the letter of motivation you will state the ranking of your preferred universities and a reason for your choice.

This question cannot be answered in a general way. The awarding of contracts depends, among other things, on the number of applications and the stated preferences. The more flexible you are in choosing your partner university, the better your chances of getting a place.

It shall be written in English. Explain briefly and succinctly the added value of a stay abroad for your study goals and make it clear that you have dealt with the host country and are informed about the courses offered by the partner university.

In general all students can apply for student exchanges with Erasmus.

However, they are required to provide proof of knowledge of the main language of instruction which is not always the national language. Proof is provided by a language certificate such as TOEFL, DELF, etc., a passed language course at the language centre or the Abitur certificate.

Find out in good time what the requirements are at your chosen university. In addition, solid language skills in the national language are desired which you should acquire before the semester abroad. Information and courses are offered by the Fachsprachenzentrum.

For the languages English, French, Spanish, Italian and German, an online language test is carried out to check your language skills before you start your stay abroad. If necessary, an online language course will be offered to improve your language skills. In addition, many partner universities offer free language courses.

Yes, you can. The Erasmus program supports students in each study cycle (BA, MA, PhD) for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months.

The partner university collects your data to prepare your stay and sends you your access data for online registration.

If your host university does not respond please inform either the International Office Bielefeld or our Erasmus Office, erasmus.wiwi[at].uni-bielefeld.de.

After the closing date for applications, the Erasmus coordinators evaluate all applications and allocate places following a selection procedure. Our Erasmus Office, erasmus.wiwi[at].uni-bielefeld.de, will inform you about the decision on your application with the request for your confirmation within one week.

If we could not consider any of your preferences, we will look for possible alternatives with you.

If you have not received any notification by the end of February, please contact us, erasmus.wiwi[at].uni-bielefeld.de.

The International Office Bielefeld will forward our nominations to the partner universities and inform you about the further procedure. Your host university will then send you your access data for online registration.

It is a binding agreement between students, host and home universities. They thereby confirm to attend the registered courses, the host university confirms admission to these courses and the home university confirms that the courses can be credited upon return.

First you have to fill in your personal data as well as further information about your home and host university.

In the next table, "Before the mobility", you enter your selected course program which you have checked for creditability.

Finally, you and Mr. Szczutkowski sign the LA. Then you send it by e-mail to your coordinator at the host university for countersignature.

Only courses from the profile phase can be recognized.

Elective Phase I: In the profile modules 31-M32 ATF, 31-M33 ECO, 31-M34 FM, 31-M35 MIM, 31-M36 MS, 31-M37 QM, 31-M38 DS for stays abroad (10 ECTS), profile-specific achievements are recognized.

Elective Area II: In the profile module International Management and Economics (31-M26), you can credit additional achievements in the field of economics (10 ETS). You should select these achievements according to your interests; there is no examination of content.

Prerequisite: Coordination with the respective module supervisor with informal proof with his/her approval.

Other study abroad achievements - also outside the economic field - can be listed in the individual supplement.

30 credit points are expected.

For the profiles ATF, MIM, FM QE, MS, credit is given exclusively in Module 20 International Management and Economics with at least 17 LP.

If less than 17 LP are achieved, no credits can be recognized.

The profile International Management and Economics is intended for a two-semester stay abroad with 2x17 LP.

At the end of your studies, you will receive a Transcript of Records from the host university, as well as any other certificates.

Please submit them to the Examination Office together with the application for recognition.

The scores are converted and booked using the Bielefeld evaluation system.

We ask you to send us a short experience report by e-mail at erasmus.wiwi[at]uni-bielefeld.de.

This helps to update information about the partner universities. Your practical experience will be passed on to future Erasmus students.

In addition, you can motivate your fellow students to spend an Erasmus semester abroad by giving a short presentation during the information event in November/December.

All returnees are available to answer questions from future Erasmus students; with your consent we will share your email address in case of inquiries. They also participate in the mentoring program of Bielefeld University.
