Database for comparative quantitative research on health of and healthcare for refugees (RefuDat)
Aim of the project is to set up a database of available quantitative data sources in Germany that allow for analysis of health and use of healthcare services of migrants with a special focus on refugees. It facilitates empirical analyses of health inequalities linked to migration or flight as well as other social determinants of health. Despite technical information about the included studies (data owner, year of the survey, definition of migrants and/or refugees, included population(groups), socio demographic variables, access) the database should contain detailed information about the surveyed health indicators. This way it helps researchers and (public) health professionals in their search for evidence, health information and indicators.
The database will be developed in cooperation with the department of Public Health Medicine (AG2). As part of the Fortschrittskolleg FlüGe the department of Public Health Medicine is currently setting up a cohort study that will include about 1,000 refugees in the next few years. The database will facilitate comparative analysis between the refugee cohort and other exiting health surveys.
