Afua Cooper

Afua Cooper was born and raised in Jamaica, migrating to Toronto in 1980. She is a historian, holds the only Black Studies Chair in all of Canada, and recently launched the Black Studies minor at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia. She also founded the Black Canadian Studies Association and aims to insert Black Canada in knowledges of the Americas. Afua Cooper is also an acclaimed Dup poet and has contributed much to this genre.
